Mitsui Ocean Cruises today announced the program of shore excursions for its inaugural season, marking the 90-day countdown to the debut of its first ship, the Mitsui Ocean Fuji.

According to the Japan-based company, which is operated by MOL Cruises, the tours were created to bring guests to destinations including Beppu, Hiroshima and Kochi.

Mitsui Ocean Cruises also said that the Fuji will embody “Funtabi,” allowing guests to have beautiful encounters with Japan.

Formerly operated by Seabourn, the 458-guest ship is set to enter service for the brand on December 1, 2024.

The new shore excursions program was created to offer authentic local tours rooted in nature, traditional culture and delicate cuisine, Mitsui explained.

“As we celebrate the 90-day countdown to the official launch of our new luxury ship, we’re incredibly proud of our enhanced shore excursions program created in partnership with local experts and tourism boards,” said Sae Ichikawa, Destination Experience General Manager at Mitsui Ocean Cruises.

“We are truly excited to offer unforgettable experiences through the unique tours that only the Mitsui Ocean Fuji can offer. We hope that these tours will allow guests to deeply experience the culture and history of each region and foster warm connections and new relationships with people met along the way.”

Booked guests will receive a shore excursions brochure and application form by mail or can make reservations online through the Cruise Desk, Mitsui Ocean Cruises said.

Once onboard, passengers can visit the ship’s Front Desk to book the shore excursions, based on availability.

The new program includes excursions in destinations in Japan and South Korea, such as Beppu, Hiroshima, Kagoshima, Kochi, Nagasaki, Shingu, Shimonoseki and Matsuyama, as well as Busan and Jeju Island.

Mitsui Ocean Fuji’s maiden season starts on December 1, 2024, and includes a series of cruises departing from Yokohama, Tokyo and Kobe.
