Now a Category 1 hurricane with 85 mph winds, Ernesto continues to alter the itineraries of cruise ships sailing in the Eastern Caribbean and Bermuda.

Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line are among the brands that confirmed changes to their schedules.

Four Royal Caribbean vessels had to adjust their itineraries to avoid the storm, including the Symphony of the Seas.

Cruising from Cape Liberty, the ship replaced a visit to Puerto Plata, in the Dominican Republic, with an additional stop in Nassau, the Bahamas.

Sailing in the Southern Caribbean, the Rhapsody of the Seas also saw changes to its current cruise, which is now sailing in reverse order.

Other vessels affected by Ernesto include the Icon of the Seas, which canceled a visit to Bermuda.

Sailing from Miami, the Carnival Magic also saw significant changes to its current itinerary, with a visit to Puerto Rico dropped in favor of a stop in Nassau.

During a scheduled visit to Grand Turk on Wednesday, the Carnival Cruise Line ship also had to leave the port several hours earlier than expected due to worsening weather conditions.

The Carnival Pride also made changes to its current cruise to Bermuda, with a visit to King’s Wharf advanced to avoid the storm.

Additionally, the itineraries for the Carnival Freedom and the Mardi Gras are being closely monitored for potential changes, Carnival said in an update on its website.

Two Norwegian Cruise Line ships were also impacted by Ernesto: the Norwegian Breakaway and the Norwegian Sky.

Initially set to cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, both vessels were diverted to alternative itineraries in the Western Caribbean.

While the Breakaway is sailing to Mexico, Belize and Honduras, the Sky is cruising to Honduras, Belize, Mexico, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.
