Virgin Voyages partnered with Virgin Red to launch the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard, a new credit card offering various perks, according to a press release.
Issued by Synchrony and set to launch in fall 2024, the new credit card will offer the opportunity to earn three Virgin Points per $1 spent on purchases with Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels and Virgin Voyages. Additionally, cardholders will earn two Virgin Points per $1 spent on dining, groceries, select streaming services, and EV charging, and one Virgin Point per $1 spent on all other purchases made with Mastercard. Virgin Points can be redeemed for a range of rewards through Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
Nirmal Saverimuttu, chief executive officer at Virgin Voyages, said: “We’re always looking for new opportunities to reward our loyal Sailors, which is why we’re excited to launch the Virgin Red Rewards Card in partnership with Virgin’s travel companies. This innovative card turns everyday purchases into Virgin Points, allowing sailors to unlock exclusive on-board perks, explore new horizons and create more unforgettable experiences with Virgin Voyages.”
Andrea Burchett, chief loyalty officer and managing director for Virgin Red, added: “We’re thrilled to partner with Virgin’s brilliant travel companies to offer our US members the chance to turn the dollars they spend every day into Virgin Points. The Virgin Red Rewards Card will be the first of its kind in the industry to span flights, cruises and hotels – it’s your passport to more flights across the Atlantic, more Voyaging around Caribbean hotspots and more Bellinis at The Pool Club.”
For an annual fee of $99, cardholders can choose from six exclusive Virgin perks twice a year, selecting one after spending $15,000 and another after spending $30,000. Current perks include:
To celebrate the card’s launch, Virgin Red is offering a 40,000 Virgin Points bonus to new cardholders who spend $3,000 in the first 90 days. Additional benefits include no foreign transaction fees, 2,500 Virgin Points for adding an additional user (up to four), and an annual anniversary bonus of 5,000 Virgin Points. Cardholders also earn 25 Flying Club Tier Points for every $2,500 spent (up to 50 per month) and a third night free after booking two nights at a participating Virgin Hotel annually.
Cardholders receive World Elite Mastercard rewards, including travel, shopping and wellness benefits, along with Mastercard security protections. Virgin Points can be redeemed for flights, cruises, hotel stays and other rewards.
