The Silver Nova is completing its first year in service this month. After being delivered by the Meyer Werft shipyard, the vessel entered service for Silversea Cruises on August 14, 2023.

As t first in a new series of ships that also includes the Silver Ray, the LNG-powered vessel spent its inaugural season in the Mediterranean.

For its maiden voyage, the Silver Nova sailed from Fusina, a port near the Italian town of Venice, for a seven-night cruise to the Adriatic Sea.

The itinerary featured visits to Piran, Slovenia; Zadar, Dubrovnik, Split, and Rovinj in Croatia; and Kotor, Montenegro.

Following its first cruise, the ship continued to offer itineraries in the Mediterranean for the summer.

After crossing the Atlantic for the first time, the Silver Nova was named at a ceremony in Fort Lauderdale on January 4, 2024.

Accompanied by Captain Cosimo Pontillo, chef, restaurateur and television personality Nina Compton served as the vessel’s godmother.

The Silver Nova then offered a 71-day grand voyage to South America that featured 38 destinations in 18 countries.

After debuting in Alaska earlier this year, the ship is set to explore other regions during the 2024-25 winter season.

Starting in September, the Nova offers a series of cruises across Asia and the Far East, which will be followed by itineraries in the South Pacific and Australia.

In 2025, the ship is scheduled to return to Alaska for a second summer season sailing between Seward and Vancouver.

According to Silversea, the Silver Nova was designed with an innovative asymmetric design that offers a broad array of bars, lounges and restaurants.

The 728-guest vessel was also conceived with an emphasis on sustainable operations, incorporating several green technologies.

Also built at the Meyer Werft shipyard, the Silver Ray entered service in June 2024 as Silver Nova’s first sister ship.
