Asuka Cruises is launching a limited-edition original label beer named Asuka Cruise Beer.
According to the Japanese cruise operator, the canned beverage was created in partnership with Yokohama Beer, one of the most traditional beer companies in the city of Yokohama.
The beer is being sold exclusively on Asuka’s online shop, with deliveries set to start in early August, the company said.
A total of 1,000 cans were made available for the general public, who can place orders on the company’s website.
The Asuka beer was conceived as an American-style pale ale and offers a “refreshing aroma,” Asuka said.
The company describes the beverage as an unfiltered, unheated draft beer that features a citrus aroma combined with bitterness from hops for a clean, light mouthfeel.
Asuka Cruises currently operates the Asuka II in the Japanese market. Sailing from local ports, including Yokohama, the 940-guest vessel offers a series of domestic and international cruises.
The company is also set to welcome a second ship in the summer of 2025 with the debut of the new Asuka III.
Currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, the 744-guest vessel is being designed to offer premium experiences for the local public.
Other alcoholic beverages currently available for sale on Asuka’s online shop include a limited-edition selection of premium and special sakes brewed exclusively for the Asuka II and an exclusive white wine.
The company is also selling an original craft gin that was developed by the bartenders onboard the vessel and features 30 types of botanicals.
Complementing the offerings, the public can also order an exclusive bottle of shochu, a popular liquor in Japan.
The beverage is made with sweet potatoes and aged in a clay pot for eight years before being exclusively bottled for Asuka Cruises.
