CLIA has announced plans for travel agent showcase events in Manchester and Norwich. These will focus specifically on the luxury cruise and river cruise sectors.

The announcement was made at the inaugural CLIA Asia River Cruise and Destination Forum, taking place this week in Vietnam and Cambodia.

The evening events will be held in Manchester on 13 September and Norwich on 20 September and will consist of ‘learning, fun and food’.

Andy Harmer, director CLIA UK and Ireland, said: “We are delighted to be bringing these events to UK travel agents in September this year. The events in Manchester and Norwich will be the perfect opportunity to highlight the innovation and breadth of cruise options in the river and luxury sectors of our industry.”

Around 70 places will be available at each CLIA event, and details of venue, programme and how to secure a place will be revealed shortly.

Speaking at the inaugural Asia River Cruise and Destination Forum, Harmer added: “Asia is often overlooked as a cruise destination – both in terms of river and ocean itineraries. However, there are signs that the tide is turning, as Asia is the fastest-growing region for river cruises, and the driving force in an increase in British river cruise passengers sailing outside of Europe.

“We hope that having the chance to experience Asia river cruising first-hand will bolster sales for our members. For those who were not able to attend the conference, there will be post-event learning modules, plus videos and notes from the conference sessions online.”
