Virgin Voyages has announced the promotion of Shane Riley to vice-president of UK/international sales to “grow the brand’s footprint and sales presence around the world”.
In a statement, the line said that Riley had led the “expansion of the company’s UK-based sales team and the development of emerging regions like Australia”.
In addition, John Diorio has been promoted to vice-president of North American sales.
Virgin Voyages senior vice-president of revenue, sales and itinerary Diana Block Garcia said: “Over the past several years, Shane and John have demonstrated the ability to produce strategic partnerships and achieve tremendous growth for the company.
“With an unparalleled approach to sales, both Shane and John have been fundamental members of Virgin Voyages’ sales teams yielding the success of the brand. We’re thrilled to announce their promotions to vice-president.”
Virgin Voyages’ second ship, Valiant Lady, will make its debut in Portsmouth in March 2022 before moving to its homeport of Barcelona in May for seven-night voyages throughout the Mediterranean.
Later this year, in August, Resilient Lady will launch from Athens, with itineraries through the Adriatic.
Speaking to Cruise Trade News in September 2021, Riley spoke of how the line intends to grow its trade partnerships and outlined the workings of its travel agent Seacademy programme.
“Seacademy is packed full of inside scoops and bitesize modules,” he said. “Our voyages offer a festival of choice with more included. It’s important to focus on the on-board value – with more than 20 eateries, wifi, fitness classes, soft drinks and much more included.”
