MSC Cruises has revealed that MSC Virtuosa will return to Southampton in summer 2022.

MSC Virtuosa will replace MSC Magnifica in the UK. All passengers already booked on MSC Magnifica will be automatically moved to the nearest like for like MSC Virtuosa sailing.

The 2022 season will be MSC Virtuosa’s second summer season in the UK, following 2021 British Isles cruises.

The ship will sail a range of itineraries – departing from Southampton’s Horizon terminal – from two-night mini cruises to 12 nights exploring the Baltics, or 14 nights to the Mediterranean.

MSC added that at least one ship will home port in Southampton throughout 2022.

MSC Cruises UK & Ireland MD Antonio Paradiso said: “We had such an amazing response to sailing MSC Virtuosa from Southampton this summer that we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to bring this popular ship back to UK shores, but this time with a variety of new and exciting itineraries.

“The feedback from passengers has been that they loved MSC Virtuosa and are eager to get back on board and explore more of the world on this fabulous ship.

“Despite the challenges of 2021 we had a record breaking year with passengers sailing from Southampton and it was great to see so many new to cruise guests amongst them.

“We have listened to the feedback from consumers and travel agents and have delivered itineraries with more choice, new destinations and longer cruises to warmer climates – all departing from Southampton.

“Five years ago we announced our intention to grow our business in the UK market and I am pleased to say that this announcement is further evidence of our commitment to this target.”

The entire MSC fleet will be sailing during summer 2022, with almost 500 departures planned.

All MSC cruises are only open to vaccinated guests, a requirement that will continue for summer 2022.

The line stated that it will “continue to implement the appropriate measures” on board.
