Princess Cruises has revealed the godmothers of Enchanted Princess and announced details about the naming ceremony of the new Medallion ship.

Captain Lynn Danaher, Dr Vicki Ferrini and Jenifer Austin, members of The Explorers Club, will serve as the godmothers for the 3,660-guest ship.

The Explorers Club, founded in 1904, is dedicated to the advancement of field research, scientific exploration and resource conservation.

Captain Danaher is a founding member and president of the Pacific Islands Research Institute, while Dr Ferrini is a senior research scientist at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

Austin is the founder of Oceanagenda.com, which brings together diverse groups to support holistic ocean conservation and stewardship.

The work of the three godmothers will be showcased in a production entitled Our World, Enchanted, as part of Enchanted Princess’ naming ceremony, scheduled to broadcast globally at 9:00pm GMT 13 December 2021, on Princess Cruises’ YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The 45-minute show – to be hosted by Princess Cruises celebrations ambassador Jill Whelan and Enchanted Princess cruise director Dan Falconer – will showcase the features and amenities on ship.

The ship’s inaugural season began on 10 November, with various 10-night southern Caribbean itineraries, sailing from Fort Lauderdale.

Enchanted Princess will head to Europe in April 2022 to sail on a series of Scandinavian voyages from Copenhagen.

Princess Cruises president John Padgett said: “This unique approach to the naming of Enchanted Princess honours our legacy of bringing people together and creating lasting memories on board our cruises, by letting us share the excitement of the ceremony with more people than ever and giving Princess fans a more intimate look at our newest MedallionClass ship.

“It also allows us to recognise the contributions our godmothers – Captain Lynn Danaher, Dr Vicki Ferrini and Jenifer Austin – have made to ocean conservation and stewardship, as the ocean provides our livelihood and serves as the home for our more than 25,000 employees who serve millions of guests while they explore the world on a cruise holiday with us each year.”
