Emerald Azzurra, the first custom-built superyacht by Emerald Cruises, has successfully completed its first set of sea trials.
The trials took place in Ha Long in Vietnam, departing Ha Long shipyard on 20 November.
Emerald Azzurra will next undergo the final touches to its interior and exterior, as well as training for the on-board teams, before its maiden voyage on 28 January 2022.
The 100-passenger ship will launch with its eight-day Best of the Red Sea itinerary.
Scenic Group founder and chairman Glen Moroney said: “During Emerald Azzurra’s sea trials, all design parameters were exceeded, including speed, noise, vibration and overall comfort and manoeuvrability whilst sailing.
“Emerald Azzurra really is a very special superyacht, and will undoubtedly deliver a fantastic experience for our guests.”
Emerald Azzurra captain Jonathan Edwards added: “I’m delighted with the great team work that has been achieved in constructing not just the most elegant vessel on the seas but one that can live up to the high standards we have all grown to expect from Emerald Cruises.”
Emerald Cruises recently announced plans for a second superyacht – Emerald Sakara – launching in early 2023.
Following a maiden voyage through the Seychelles’ Indian Ocean islands, Emerald Sakara will join sister ship Emerald Azzurra in sailing the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Red and Black Seas.
Construction is underway in Ha Long City, Vietnam, with the steel already cut.
