Viking has revealed it will welcome a new ocean cruise ship to the fleet in early 2023.
The 930-guest Viking Saturn will spend its maiden season sailing three new itineraries in Scandinavian and Nordic countries, including two 15-day journeys – Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada and Iceland, and Norway’s Arctic Explorer.
In addition, the ship will operate a 29-day Greenland, Iceland, Norway & Beyond voyage.
The 15-day Iconic Iceland itinerary will span Iceland, Greenland and the Canadian provinces of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, sailing between New York City and Reykjavik.
Viking has also announced that it will bring back the eight-day Iceland’s Natural Beauty itinerary, starting in August 2023.
Guests will encounter “unparalleled natural beauty, witness cascading waterfalls and pristine fjord landscapes”, the said.
Chairman Torstein Hagen said: “The thousands of guests who sailed our Welcome Back voyage in Iceland this past summer enjoyed the experience so much they provided record-level ratings.
“These new itineraries are ideal for curious travellers and trace routes of the early Viking explorers to Iceland and other North Atlantic destinations known for their natural beauty.
“We look forward to welcoming Viking Saturn to our fleet and to offering guests even more ways to explore this unique part of the world in comfort.”
Earlier this year, the line celebrated the float out of its second purpose-built expedition ship, Viking Polaris.
Scheduled to debut in summer 2022, the vessel will spend its maiden season sailing voyages to the Arctic and Antarctica.
Its sister ship Viking Octantis was floated out last December and is set launch in early 2022 for journeys to Antarctica and North America’s Great Lakes.
The cruise line will also operate two 138-day World Cruises in 2023-24. The voyages, which will depart three days apart, will sail the same itineraries from Fort Lauderdale.
Guests can choose to sail on Viking Sky, which will depart on 20 December 2023, or on Viking Neptune, which will depart 23 December.
