Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans for more ships to return to service for January and February 2022, as it works towards the return of its full fleet sailing from US homeports in the spring of next year.

Carnival Sunshine will restart from Charleston on 13 January and Carnival Liberty from Port Canaveral on 11 February.

The line’s US-based operations will cover Galveston, Miami, Port Canaveral, New Orleans, Long Beach, Baltimore, Tampa and Charleston.

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said: “Our restart plan continues to excel across all metrics, and we are looking forward to completing the restart of the fleet in the new year.

“We appreciate the support and patience of our guests, travel agents and port and destination partners who have been key to this successful restart.

“We are optimistic that vaccines will be approved for children between the ages of 5-11 before the end of the year and we look forward to welcoming more families back on board.”

The line added that it will “continue to carefully monitor the status of public health and adjust its operating protocols accordingly”.

The line will continue to operate vaccinated cruises under its current protocols for ships sailing in January and February 2022.

Cruises on Carnival’s three remaining US-based ships – Carnival Ecstasy from Jacksonville, Carnival Paradise from Tampa, and Carnival Sensation from Mobile – have been cancelled through to February.

Moreover, Carnival Splendor sailings from Sydney has been cancelled through to 7 February and Carnival Spirit from Brisbane is cancelled through to 20 February.

The line recently revealed that Carnival Valor will follow Carnival Glory in New Orleans with four and five-night sailings starting on 1 November.

A new maiden voyage has been announced for Carnival Radiance. The ship was scheduled to depart on 5 November, but will now sail on 13 December out of Long Beach due to a revised dry dock transformation plan.
