Virgin Voyages has signed a €700 million agreement with shipyard Fincantieri for the construction of a fourth new build ship.

The 2,770-passenger vessel, which will be delivered in 2023, will be the sister to three ships already on order.

The first three will be delivered in 2020, 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Scarlet Lady, the first in the fleet, launches in 2020.

The company recently announced that the ship will feature a tattoo studio on board, called Squid Ink.

Tom McAlpin, president and chief executive officer for Virgin Voyages, said: “Our sailors are looking to make lifelong memories, and we think there’s no better way to commemorate their first voyage with us than with a souvenir they’ll never lose track of.”

Highlights of the Virgin Voyages fleet include highly innovative design solutions, specifically to address energy recovery and the reduction of the overall environmental impact.

For example, ships will be equipped with an energy production system of approximately 1 MW, which uses the diesel engine’s waste heat.
