Norwegian Cruise Lines informed guests onboard the Norwegian Bliss on March 25, 2025, that the ship was canceling its stop at Puerto Vallarta due to technical issues.
“While we have made every effort to maintain the original itinerary and provide you with the vacation you planned, the safety of our guests and crew remains our top priority,” the notification said.
“Unfortunately, due to a technical issue, which has impacted the speed of our beautiful ship (but will not impact your safety or that of our crew), combined with ocean currents and headwinds, further impacting our speed en route to Los Angeles, California, our visit to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, has been canceled. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the notification added.
Guests were informed that the itinerary adjustment was essential for the timely arrival in Los Angeles, with disembarkation beginning as scheduled at 07:00 a.m. local time on March 30, 2025.
They were also informed that full monetary refunds would be given for the shore excursions booked at Puerto Vallarta and that no further action was required.
According to the notification sent by the company, an additional day at sea and a $100 non-refundable onboard credit per stateroom were provided, with applied restrictions, as well as an additional 10 percent discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit for sailings through Dec. 31, 2025. The discount is available for use by onboard guests until April 7, 2025.
