Viking has taken delivery of its newest river ship, the Viking Nerthus, at Meyer’s Neptun Werft shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde, Germany.

The 168-guest Viking Longship will join the company’s fleet on the Seine River, sailing the eight-day Paris & the Heart of Normandy itinerary and the newly introduced eight-day Christmastime in Paris & Normandy itinerary. Sailing roundtrip from Paris from March through December, the itineraries include stops in Giverny, Rouen and Normandy.

“We are proud to welcome the Viking Nerthus to our growing fleet of award-winning Viking Longships,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman and CEO of Viking. “France continues to be a destination of great interest for our guests, and with the arrival of our newest ship on the Seine River, we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the region’s rich history and cultural treasures in ‘the Viking way.’”

The 168-guest Viking Nerthus features Viking’s signature Scandinavian design and is identical to its sister ships the Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid, Viking Skaga and Viking Fjorgyn. The ship includes an Aquavit Terrace, various stateroom options and a hybrid propulsion system with batteries, exhaust gas aftertreatment and onboard solar panels. It is also equipped for shore power to reduce fuel use in ports.

The Paris & the Heart of Normandy itinerary explores the region’s history, art and cuisine, featuring stops at Monet’s home in Giverny and the beaches of Normandy.

The Christmastime in Paris & Normandy voyage offers a seasonal journey through festive Paris and Normandy’s cultural landmarks.

This latest ship delivery is part of Viking’s continued growth, with 25 additional river ships expected by 2028 and nine more ocean ships by 2030.
