Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey arrived in Brazil this week, continuing its three-and-a-half year world cruise

After departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Feb. 18, 2025, the vessel docked in Santos for a three-day stay beginning Feb. 24, 2025.

With nearly 250 residents onboard, the Odyssey is scheduled to visit nearly 15 Brazilian destinations over the next month.

After leaving Santos on Feb. 26, the 1993-built vessel will stop at Ilhabela before continuing to Paraty, Ilha Grande, Búzios and Cabo Frio.

The itinerary is highlighted by a three-day visit to Rio de Janeiro during the city’s Carnival celebrations, as well as stops in the Amazon region.

Odyssey’s schedule also features additional ports in the country, such as Maceió, Fortaleza and Belém.

“We are very excited to visit Brazil, spending nearly one month in the country,” Rodrigo Lopes, Odyssey’s hotel manager, told Cruise Industry News during an onboard interview.

After departing from Europe in late September, Villa Vie’s first world circumnavigation is scheduled to sail to nearly 150 countries and over 425 destinations.

“There’s something I always tell my passengers and crew when I’m onboard: the world is a beautiful place,” Lopes said.

“Every place and every culture have its beauty. It’s a matter of knowing how to look and having an open mind to appreciate the beauty that people hold in their culture.”

Acquired by Villa Vie in late 2023, the Odyssey was formerly operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines as the Braemar.

After several months in a drydock in Northern Ireland, the 23,344-ton vessel entered service last September, introducing a unique concept that allows passengers to live onboard the ship.

As part of its refurbishment, the Odyssey also saw the addition of new public areas and features, including an office area that is available for guests.
